Facilities

Demory Field/Campground100_0037.JPG

Demory Field is our main campground, providing water pumps, a fire pit, lean-to and pavillion.

Sawmill Field/Campground

This is a large open field on the southern edge BRCES property, off of Sawmill Lane.  This field is often used for large (100+ people) camping events.  The field connects to the Butterfly Alley trail, running along the power line connection to the Appalachain Trail; and lies just a short walk from scenic Gordon Pond.

The Education Barn includes an arena, conference room, bathrooms, kitchen, and barbeque grill.

Demory Wortman Cultural Center

The main house of the Blue Ridge Center property, the Demory Worman house, was constructed around 1848 by Mahlon Demory who received the property after his father Phillip's death.  The original house was a two-story log cabin that shows considerable German influence typical of the time period. Sometime around 1900 a major addition was added to the original log house and the logs were enclosed.  DCP_2386.JPG

The Demory Wortman house serves as a Visitor Center and Cultural Center, housing the BRCES archive and artifact collections.  It also serves as a small meeting space and as temporary staff, intern and volunteer housing.
